If today were the last day of this world before it blew up, how would I spend it? Many indigenous people talk about living each day as if it is your last. I heard it again recently and thought I would think about it while writing this blog posting.
Many thoughts ran through my mind. My family, my friends, memories of times past, regret for it being over, so many things to think about and ponder their value to me. What would I do for the last 24 hours of my time here in this world?
As I mulled it over and over, a structure began to outline itself and with that insight, peace began to flow through my Being. Peace, calmness and a sense of well-being. This is what I would do:
♥ I would go to a place in nature with water and plenty of dirt or sand to write in.
♥ I would write a gratitude list that the world ending would send back to Source.
♥ I would sit in the silence and savor the now moments as they strung into pearls of wisdom expressing this world and the beauty that It and I were together within its evolution.
♥ I would lovingly and joyfully embrace the change I was Becoming.
♥ I would completely surrender to the Moments expanding out into greater Beingness as I said good-bye to the last moment and welcomed the New Being I was birthing.
In Essence I would:
Be the Change
Embrace the Change
Enjoy every moment in every way
Love who I am, who I am becoming and Know that All is Well!
All of this Beauty underneath the sea,
This is the Beauty within You and Me.
I have spent most of my Life searching for what was wrong with me and I found many things. I would list then, work on then, give up on them and then do it all over again. But I have come to realize that I spent no time at all searching for what was Beautiful within me.
As I gazed at the picture above, I thought about how beautiful nature is in all of its colors, moods, and seasons. Then I thought, if my Beloved Source had taken the time to create this beauty in nature, wouldn’t the same beauty be within me? As I spent time in meditation and silent contemplation about the possibilities this line of thinking was opening up, I searched for a way to see this Beauty that might lie within me.
As I was allowing myself to really see and feel the shapes and colors reflected in nature, I began to pull them within my physical body and feel the colors and shapes taking hold within me. I watched as if in a dream as they danced, shifted, merged and then did it all over again. It went on and on and as I gazed upon this Beautiful Happening within Me, I began to feel and see this Beauty as a part of me.
I began to practice this daily and the more I practiced it, the more Beautiful I felt myself to be. The more Beautiful I felt inside, the more I loved myself and the more I was able to open up and share myself with those around me. My intention became for the world to be a more beautiful place to live for it has my inner beauty as part of it.
Take the time, to get to know your inner beauty. Nurture it, love it and then let it out for all the world to see and enjoy. We create this reality from within and together the Beauty we create is breath-taking.
When I was 10 years old, my grandmother started to teach me different forms of needlework. We lived on a fruit farm and in the summer I would go to her house to help out with the fruit stand. The needlework kept me from being bored. But it also did something else: it kept me focused on creating something beautiful.
Of all the forms of needlework, knitting was my favorite…perhaps because it appeared to move along faster in the creation process. I could see more of a result of my efforts than when I crocheted or embroidered. But there was something about the knitting motions, the click of the needles against each other that was very meditative and soothing.
Fascinated by the textures and colors
When I was 28, I started a job that had me working 13 hours a day, so I no longer knitted. Then one day I walked into a yarn shop just to look at all the colors of yarn. I was fascinated by all the colors, the patterns, the materials yarn was now made out of. When I was a little girl, we had cotton, wool, and acrylic. Now there was wool, cashmere, alpaca, mohair, cotton, silk, and lots of manmade fibers in shimmering and glittering colors. I walked out of that shop with a bag full of yarn, needles, and a pattern, and started knitting again.
I started with shawls because they were easier to knit, but yet allowed for the creative process to flow. Even with the same pattern, the shawls looked different based on the colors and textures of yarn chosen. So I knitted, and as I knitted, a person’s face or name would come into my mind—and I knew that was the person this shawl would be gifted to.
Knitting with love and grace
Knitting as a meditation allowed me to quiet my mind and channel all my energies to the needles…with my hands busy, my mind didn’t have to be. And I would find myself mentally singing and praying as I knitted. I would see patterns of light and sound inside of me, and they would go into the shawl I was knitting. The people I gave the shawls to told me they felt soothed by them—that they made them feel calm and safe…made them feel better. It became a ministry of love and grace.
I’ve knitted other items, but I always seem to come back to shawls. With the shawls I can wrap someone with love and grace. I can let them know they are appreciated for who they are. And perhaps the shawls will help someone step into the same still and comforting Presence I feel when I knit….maybe when they wrap themselves in the colors of the shawl, they too will feel a sense of Homecoming.
As I close the door on 2014 and prepare to begin 2015, I took some time to review the lessons I learned in 2014. What had I learned and what Wisdom am I taking with me as I begin the new year?
It was amazing how many little things I had relearned as well as new wisdom to add to my “jewel chest.” I had a friend who had shared this concept with me many years ago and I have found that it works for me. Common usage labels strengths, skills, techniques, etc. as a “tool chest.” While that is descriptive, it reeks of work and hard labor. On the other hand, acquiring jewels makes me think of color, beauty, life sparkle, and other adjectives that reflect how I would prefer to see my efforts out-picture.
So, Wisdom for me is a jewel to be treasured, nurtured and worn proudly! Let me share a few of the things I learned anew or relearned as I hadn’t paid enough attention to them the first time!
♥ Be patient and gentle with myself!
♥ Allow and accept help from others!
♥ Be present in my life!
♥ Appreciate what I have been graced with in this life!
Before you make a list setting out goals for the coming year, take the time to reflect on what you learned from last year. As you see your jewel chest overflowing with all of your colorful, sparkling, exciting jewels, notice how your life changes!
See your value in your wisdom!
Make a commitment to adding to your Jewel Chest in 2015!
As we start to say Goodbye to 2014 and Hello to 2015 take the time for a few moments of reflection. Focus on what worked and not on what was wrong. The more we can focus on our strengths or what works, the faster we can build the life we want. As we know, thought creates and the thoughts we focus on manifest. So, it falls to reason that the more we focus on our strengths, the faster we can build the life we dreamed of living.
Ask yourself questions such as:
1. Was I a good mother, wife, employee or friend?
2. If yes, what did I do that helped me achieve that status?
Write down a list of your answers so you can reflect on them in the coming week. Here are some of the items from my list.
1. I made time in my life for those relationships. They were important so I made them a priority.
2. I nurtured my relationships. Relationships are like plants. They need to be watered and fed which translates into time and attention.
3. I was a good listener. We all need to be heard. We don’t need solutions, we just need to be heard.
4. I loved and didn’t judge. We all have our life lessons to work through. At those times, we need love, not criticism.
5. I encouraged, supported and praised the strengths I saw in them. We all need for others to see what we are doing right. We criticize ourselves enough and don’t need it from those around us.
Now, take the time to give yourself LOVE! We can never have too much love and most times we don’t love ourselves enough. This includes loving what you don’t like about yourself. All of those experiences helped make each of us the person we are today and it is a part of us. So, focus on Loving the total you!
Have a Loving, Prosperous, and Joy-Filled New Year!
We all love to give to others and feel wonderful when we do. We love to see the joy others feel when we give to them. Yet we often feel uncomfortable when others give to us.
There is an expansion and contraction to the universe, so there must be both a giving and receiving. This is part of prosperity consciousness. We need to receive love as well as give love–to receive praise as well as praise others–to receive caring as well as care for others. The receiving is part of the energy cycle of “what we send out comes back to us multiplied.”
Receiving graciously and allowing it to flow back out into the universe is the grace-filled way to act. What is selfish is in “not receiving.” It closes the flow of Source’s Grace and Good. The result is that it does not allow anyone else the opportunity to give, the opportunity to open the heart and send out love in any form.
We are taught to give selflessly to others, and that this makes us a good person. Yes, it is good to give without expecting anything in return; this is one of the Laws of Prosperity. The twist comes when we are also taught that it is selfish to want anything for ourselves, something to make our lives feel more beautiful. We are caught in the trap of “it is better to give than to receive,” and we continually give and give and give, sending our energy out, day after day, and deny ourselves the gifts from the universe flowing back to us in response. This is a grave injustice to Life and blocks the flows of Prosperity. One has to be able to receive as well as give.
Practice Loving Acceptance
Practice the words, “thank you.” When people give us something the first thing we often say is, “oh, you shouldn’t have” or “oh, you didn’t have to give me anything.” That is true…they did not have to give us anything, but they chose to do so. If we refuse to accept, then we are deliberately stopping their prosperity as well as ours.
Learn to become a gracious and loving receiver. When you refuse to accept, the receiving stops, which means the giving to you also stops. This starts to block the prosperity channels. Here the universe was trying to say “YES!” and you said “NO!” Learn to say YES!
If someone gives you something you cannot use, gratefully accept it and pass it on. Perhaps you are the conduit for someone else receiving what they need, and if you refuse to accept and pass it on, what they need never comes to them.
Completing the Cycle of Receiving and Giving
We complete the energy cycle and release this idea into the universe by giving thanks for the opportunity to receive and give. Giving thanks puts us into alignment with joy; and the more thanks we give, the more joy we receive. It operates under the universal law of tithing: the more we give the more we receive. This is how the cycle of abundance works. But the giving has to be done out of full-heartedness, not out of a sense of obligation or grudging acceptance.
When we give out of a sense of gratitude to life, life always give back…
Growing up on a ranch surrounded by vineyards, the new year was always important. It was a fallow time of anticipation as we waited for the first sign of life. The tiniest bud that would indicate new growth, new possibilities, new life! All of the things we are anticipating for 2015 as we set our intentions for our future.
The best intentions always focus around intangibles. From these underlying thoughts our lives out-picture. So, I have listed a few intentions/goals below to get you thinking as you ready yourself for the New Year!!
I AM Perfect, Whole, and Complete just as I am!
LOVE FLOWS through me 24/7!
I AM a Beacon of Happiness!
I SEE the Cup 1/2 Full in everything I do!
I AM a Positive Person!
Change how you think and your world changes!!
During holidays emotions fly all over the place. People are joyful…people are sad…the season seems bright…the season seems not so bright…and we find that what we want to say to help people feel better gets stuck in our head…and what comes out our mouths sounds fake and insincere. We then tell ourselves we should have just kept our mouths closed and not said anything….and we would have been right.
Keeping quiet is a gift. Instead of opening your mouth and letting meaningless platitudes dribble out, center yourself within your Eternal Self and just breathe. Connect to your innermost being and find the spark of love, expanding it out until it suffuses every cell in your body. Then expand it further until it encompasses your entire energy body. Don’t forget to expand this energy down to the part of you resting in the earth’s core, and all the way up to Source. Bring out the Divine Artist in you and paint your energy all the colors of the rainbow—make it alive and sparkling. Continue breathing, imagining that you are inhaling Source and on the out-breath, exhaling Source.
When you are centered and breathing Source, you naturally radiate the frequency of Love, Grace, and Joy. You become the Source Flame, and this Presence is what people feel when they are around you. That is why there is no need for words; the message is received through you, as Source, and this Gift of Presence is the greatest gift you can give anybody, at any time.
This Presence is an everlasting Gift that is you. No matter the occasion, you can stand there quietly, listen, and breathe. If people need to talk, you can listen…and breathe. If people need to cry, you can be there…silently holding space….and breathe. No words are needed…just you and Source…holding each person, each moment within a sacred place of love and understanding. This is the Gift we give others, the Gift of the Presence as ourselves, flowing through us to touch everybody we meet.
I have no more words.
But I know as I breathe and center myself in Source,
that the Presence within me salutes the Presence within you…
All I want for the Holidays is an Open Heart!
For so many years, my heart was closed or only partially open. Through fear, I had felt the need to protect myself from the world around me, relationships, myself and on and on. One day I realized that this wasn’t working for me. I was miserable, depressed, isolated, and existing in a life that wasn’t worth living. Something had to be done! But what to do?
I had been traveling my Spiritual Path through using the principles of Science of Mind as formulated by Ernest Holmes and it came to me that I was going through the motions and not really embodying what I was telling myself I believed. I needed the change that comes from within and I knew that I hadn’t visited my “within” in a long time. Here, I thought was where to begin my spiritual transformation.
Daily I began to use the tools of meditation, prayer, monitoring my thoughts, being grateful, trying to stay in the now moment, and slowly I began to see positive changes! This was so exciting. Tangible feedback that something was working in my life. Seeing the improvement, I was encouraged to continue my daily disciplines/tools to create change.
As I look back so many years later, I realize now that my goal of spiritual transformation was really one of “Opening my Heart.” I had opened the door to the flow of the “Divine Love of Source” and it felt good! No longer was I alone and isolated, but so Loved Filled that I could only see this world through the Eyes of Love.
Seeing the Divine in everything, I could only be Love, See Love, Connect with Love, and become Loving Source Manifested in this world. I had become the verb of Loving!
Now, I go about my daily living recognizing the Divine in everything. Connecting with the Divine in those I interact with, I no longer see only their perceived failings, but the pain of their journey where I can empathize and feel compassion, the joy of their successes where they have completed another step of their spiritual journey in this life and recognize the Gift that we all are to Source and this world!
Open your Heart and be the Gift of Divine Love Everlasting!
As I sit here and contemplate the holiday week to come, I am reminded of the vastness of the universe. As the universe is so immense, intense, evolving, and beautiful, so are each of us! As we look to the days ahead, I want to challenge everyone on this planet to look for the immense, intense evolving Beauty Within Each of Us! Our differences are beautiful and are what draw us together completing the beautiful tapestry that humanity represents.
Easy to say, but how do we do this? Here are some suggestions:
♥ As you look into the eyes around you, recognize the Divine in all of them.
♥ Instead of looking for the mistakes or the bad in people, spend time looking for the kindness and love within them.
♥ Focus on being courteous, respectful and appreciative in your every action and behavior.
♥ Count your Blessings and realize that you have more than enough to share with others.
♥ Be a role model for a lifestyle of Loving Kindness!
Our entire world and everyone in it is Divine!
Respect that Divinity!
Love that Divinity!
Be that Divinity!
Let us build a Beautiful Tapestry of a Divine Humanity Together!
